  • Searching for a new set of wheels

I've been searching as I'm looking to invest in a compact set of wheels for local travelling.  Gas costs about $25-$30 a week it would behoove me to not only save some money but also be more environmentally friendly.

There are the typical razor scooters:

There are also folding bikes too,

Bestco Folding Bike, 16" Wheels, 3 speeds  $120.

$249 Folding Mountain Bike by Army Recon

While bikes are cool, I've already had bikes in the past.  I've also had roller blades too which were kind of a lot of hassle to carry or change shoes, etc.  I've never had a scooter though.

Here are my top two scooter picks:

Razor A5 Lux Scooter (notice the 200mm wheels)

    See Reviews here

And Here is a kick pedal scooter:

Look at the detail on these wheels,

The Pulse Excelerator Stealth Black seems to be my top pick

The reviews seem to be split so hmm, i don't know what to get...  Perhaps I'll go to Sports Authority or Sports Chalet and check both out to see what is the smoothest and fastest (and most compact) of them all.

Does any of you you have any of these?  If so, what is your experience and recommendations?

Also, once I get a job, here are two other items I may upgrade or add onto:

    The Trikke!

The Trikke is way out of my budget though (over $200).  Also if you aren't familiar with skiing, I wouldn't recommend you just use this down a hill.

And here is a higher quality two-wheel scooter brand, Xootr:

I may get this if I get a job, for now, i'll settle for a Razor or a Pulse & Go.

  • How do you like them apples? Part II

Here's an updated rough cut for the Apple dance segment.  I'm still experimenting with various ideas to see what works so this isn't final.  I likely have to make the green apple ment a little darker as they are hard to see in the apples.

Another motion graphics sample rough cut for Karyl-lyn S. Healthy Leaders program

Look at what a difference buying that 1TB Rugged Hard drive has done. It freed up tremendous amounts of space and has allowed me to finally finish a rough cut for the apple dance segment. Haha, I love it! Reminds me of the chicken dance but cooler.

  • Update on my hard drive purchase

    Update June  4th, 2009:
As an update to my external computer hard drive purchase, I bought the life preserver Lacie. Yeah, i know everyone and their mama wanted me to get the Lego, but I chose function over form this time. I want a drive that will last for the long run. It's been almost an entire month since putting my order and it finally came in the mail = p

I didn't want to follow up with it because frankly, I'm poor and didn't know if I was gonna make ends meet before I got more money. Well, more money has come, and the hard drive was just delivered by UPS just in time as I'm hoping to prepare our horror/thriller, Killigraphy for film festivals this year. I've already stuffed the hard drive with about 600 Gigabytes of files to make space on my desktop. It's crazy how films take so much space.

    ======
Original Post from May 12, 2009: This hard drive is butch! heck yeah!
I've been checking online as I need to invest in a new external hard drive as I ran out of space due to so many film projects.  Since i just got a little extra money from last year's income tax refund, it's a great investment for the future.   check out this baby:

     The Lacie Rugged XL

    RuggedXL_3Q

    RuggedXL_back
It may look like a raft or a life-preserver, but this external harddrive can handle a beating yet keep on ticking.  It's a Lacie drive with freakin' one whole terabite of space and it's only $159!  On the downside, it only has a USB drive and no Firewire 400 or 800 drives and comes with a 2 year warranty.

On the other corner, is another hard drive from the Lacie family that i'm weighing against the 1 TB:

The Lacie D2 Quadra 1.5 Terabite Hard Disk!

Look at those curves!  The better to deal with overheating as it gives extra surface area to cool off.

It's equipped to function with not only USB but also fire wire 400 and 800 drives.

And wit it's units combined, it becomes its own Voltron!

The 1.5 Terabites of space and a three year warranty are catchy, but costs (drum roll...)  $259.99.  It's pretty pricey and may not be able to take as much of a beating as the first hard drive.

Oh wait, here's a third challenger:

The Lacie Hard Disk, Design by Neil Poulton.

daayum!...1 Terabites of space for only $179.99

Not only does it have a USB port, but it also comes with 2 Firewire 400's!

The sleek black design looks cool but drop this black box and it will probably crack into a million useless terabites.  It also only comes with a 2 year warranty.

Here are a couple more that I saw but didn't make it into my top three:
for all the gold diggers out there

The Lacie Golden Disk:  A 1 TB USB drive for only $189

    and for the lego fans:

The Lacie Brick Desktop Hard Drive

    Stackable, multicolored hard drives:

It looks a little too simple and childish for my taste.

So what would you go for?  I think i'm leaning towards the life preserver/raft #1 hard drive.  It's only a two year warranty, but it's rugged and cheap.  It's warranty may not last as long as the second harddrive with a 3 year warranty, but then again, it's built tough to whether a storm...or at least a trip in a backpack at least.

so yeah, I'll have to see.  I may at the last minute even change to a different brand once I do a little more online research with C-Net and other sites.  I know some of you may have issues with Lacie and there's others who say it's been good to them.  In my personal experience, though, my first hard drive was a Lacie and it still is going strong after 4 hours.   One thing is for certain though.  I'm not buying a maxtor hard drive.  I think it was a one year warranty and is now screeching like it's about to die any minute now.

  • Artichoke Dance

Artichoke Dance Motion Graphics Sample Fine Cut.

    What do you think?

As a side note, it might need some work as keying out the person on the white cyc stage to put backgrounds behind the made a white halo which around the person which I thought made the effect a lot more noticeably unrealistic.  I'll have to see how it turns out later with a little more work.

  • the love-friendship shuffle

how does one convey their heart for another?
Or do you even tell him at all?
My curiosity has been ensnared by your unassuming ways.
Yes, I'd be interested, but such bonds are fragile and uncertain.
Tranquility of friendship can be disrupted by the slightest of impressions.
With the slightest move, friendship may take flight leaving only a hunger for sentiment and passion accentuated even more so by warm summer nights.
